TopWine China 2010:
a successful premiere with 3450 high calibre visitors
TWC 2010: High Calibre VisitorsThe first truly international dedicated wine exhibition and conference TopWine China 2010 in Beijing ended on June 3rd with an exciting positive response from the industry.

There were in total 3450 high calibre visitors of which 3300 were domestic from 111 cities of 29 provinces, and 150 overseas from 20 different countries. This final number of wine trade professionals surpassed all expectations of the organisers, with not only quantity, but quality too! In Beijing TopWine China has established itself straight away as a serious and lucrative port of entry into the highly promising Chinese wine business and catering system. In total there were 53 overseas exhibitors representing world famous vineyards from countries such as France, Italy, Australia, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Georgia, U.S.A. and Hungary as well as an equal number of Chinese exhibitors, presenting their wines or other wine-relating products during the three days of this debut event. The success of TopWine China is an illustration of how vigorous the Chinese wine market is, and it also demonstrates the growing importance of China as a wine consuming country. China is expected to be the world's seventh-largest wine consumer by 2013.

TopWine China 2010 exhibitors:
Extremely impressed with quality of visitors
A1 "We are absolutely delighted with the attendance figures and the positive feedback of exhibitors," explained organiser Tony Kenter, director of B.V. Industrial Promotions International (I.P.I.), the Netherlands.

Together with Beijing Partnerworld International Exhibition Co., I.P.I. is responsible for the day to day organisation of TopWine China. "Our decision to choose for Beijing was right; this has been a resounding success for everyone, from the exhibitors who represent most of the world's major wine producing countries, to the calibre of the visitors. We noticed a particular vibrant feel on the exhibition floor right from the start. The show had a real buzz about it giving full justification to the concept of organising a fully dedicated wine show in Beijing. Obviously we are very pleased that this first event has been met with such a positive response." George Zhu, managing director of Being Partnerworld added: "The exhibitors were extremely impressed with the quality of the professional contacts they have made here, as well as their knowledge and appreciation of wine. We firmly believe that this will help stimulate growth of the industry in China and ultimately benefit the consumer. As a matter of fact on the last day of the 2010 edition we received already quite a number of space reservations for 2011 giving a strong indication of substantial growth. Many exhibitors have indicated to re-book double space taken in 2010, while we have also received inquiries from additional national as well as international exhibitors for the next show in 2011."

Opening TopWine China 2010
A2 On Tuesday June 1, Tony Kenter officially opened TopWine China 2010 together with Mr. Cai Jiaxiang, Chairman of China National Enterprises Association for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Mr. Zhang Jianshun, Head of the Huailai County of Hebei Province, Mr. Liu Yuan, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China National Association for Liquor and Spirits Circulation, Mr. Xu Jinzhi, Vice Chairman of the China Tourist Hotel Association, Mr. Zhang Jingfu, Vice Chairman of the China Hotel Association, Mr. Herve Henrotte, Head of Wines, Spirits and Drinks Department of UBIFrance, Mr. Paolo Donadini, International Activity Manager of Veneto Region, ICE, Mr. Alonso, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Spain, Mr. Karlo Sikharulidze, Ambassador of Georgia, Mr. Csaba Wolf, Commercial Counsellor of the Hungary Embassy and Mrs. Susie Wu, wine columnist and wine critic. Later that day Mr. Hervé Ladsous, French ambassador in China visited TopWine China as well.

Highly satisfied exhibitors
A3The international exhibitors were highly satisfied with this premiere. Of the 3 national pavilions at TopWine China, France has the largest contingent.

As Sandrine Krummenacher, project manager Ubifrance, put it: "The outcome of attending the first edition of TopWine China was very successful for Ubifrance. All of our exhibitors expressed their satisfaction and we will definitely be back in 2011. The French Pavilion attracted many professional visitors who could taste the wines of the 23 French participants, and during the three days of the exhibition many serious contacts were made. The French companies who came to China this time understand the need for working in each big city and TopWine China proved to be the right show where they can meet the right people from the Beijing area."
Danny Tam, President of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association Limited said: "It was true value for our Australian wineries to attend TopWine China. We have met dozens of potential importers expressing interest to import our Australian wines. Hong Kong Australia Business Association also gained the public awareness and increased our international corporate image through this event."

Also of utmost importance was the feedback from the Chinese exhibitors. Mr. Xue, a member of the Importers Alliance said: "This is the first truly professional wine show in China. Most of the visitors are agents or wholesalers that we really wanted. Being an exhibitor at this professional wine show was a pleasure."

Ms. Zhou of ShangHai Euro Trading Co. said: "For us this wine show was a great success. Although there were less visitors than at the Sugar & Wine Exhibition, the visitors here are precisely our target group. Next year, we will attend TopWine China again."

Mr. Tian, General Manager of Shanxi Oumei International Wine Industry Co. remarked: "I have been at many wine shows in China, but the impact of TopWine China is really huge. Professionally organised and high quality service in every detail. Moreover all visitors are professional buyers. For the near future TopWine China has the potential to become the leading international wine exhibition and conference, here in Beijing."

Mr. Di, General Manager of Beijing Broad Vista Trading Co. said: "I am pleased that I decided to attend this professional wine show. It is a truly B2B event. No sales promotion, no hobbyist, no children running around: it is only wine business."

TopWine China 2010 Conference well attended
A4In the afternoon of the first day of TopWine China, a summit was organised in the adjacent China World Hotel. With its theme 'Progress through Partnership' the summit attracted just over 300 attendees.

There is no doubt that everyone wanted to learn about tendencies, marketing and opportunities in the Chinese wine market. Everyone benefited from spending time listening to the prominent speakers. All of them provided an all encompassing overview of the current wine status in China as well as a glimpse into the future of this exciting market. The last session of the summit was a lively panel discussion chaired by Mrs. Li Siyu, publisher of the well-known Chinese Wine & Spirit magazine.

Other highlights of the conference included specials seminars and wine tasting sessions.
